STERLING LIFE INSURANCE
Founded in 1994 - Sterling Insurance Group Limited was formed by Nicholas Cooper following the acquisition of Consolidated Insurance Group Ltd by GE Capital. The Company initially specialised in unregulated Term Life, Critical Illness and niche general insurance products.
In 1995, Sterling Life Limited acquired Albion Insurance Company Limited. In 1996, Sterling Life Ltd acquired Edgar Hamilton Group, a Lloyds broker. In 2001, Sterling acquired Crowe Life, previously a Lloyds syndicate, acquired to strengthen and expand Sterling Life's existing life assurance portfolio.
From 2006 - Sterling Insurance Group operated across 5 key product lines offering creditor, commercial, household and life insurance together with a range of simple health products. They also offered some specifically designed products some especially for HM Armed Forces members. In 2016 Covea Insurance took over the administration of old Sterling Life Insurance Policies.
Today, their product range via Covea Life Insurance includes level term assurance, critical illness cover, income asu protection, over 50's lifecover, accidental death & injury style plans. In 2020 this includes protection distribution mainly via Intermediaries.
