UNITED FRIENDLY INSURANCE United Friendly Life Assurance was founded in 1908. United Friendly Insurance was once a major force in the protection market place with brokers then slowly disappeared as a brand as the mortgage market slowly moved from endowments to repayment mortgages. Friends Provident was then given the right to market their client database. Royal London Insurance Company took over both in 2000 and Scottish Life in 2001. The Financial Services Authority reportedly fined both United Friendly & Refuge Assurance for their sales of with-profits endowment savings policies. The Royal London Group now adminsters old UnitedFriendly policies from their head office based in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
