SunlifeofCanada has operations in key markets around the world. Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada UK operations are based in Basingstoke. Once Sun Life of Canada was a major force in the Uk protection market place with its own direct sales force. They assumed the plans of Confederation Life back in the 1990's but then slowly disappeared from selling their products in 2001 because they said it was no longer economical to attract new business through their traditional direct sales route. Note they are not be confused with Canada Life or Axa Sun Life. In 2003 SunLife Financial sold their group insurance business to UNUM. Their plans continue to help meet the needs and circumstances of its existing policyholders only & you can still make any changes to an existing plan or increase/decrease the level of your contributions. They recommend that you talk to your financial adviser before making any changes where applicable. Currently in 2008, Sunlife of Canada no longer market their products beyond their existing customer base.
