POST OFFICE LIFE INSURANCE
The Post Office has changed services over the years & now supplies a variety life insurance products. Post Office Ltd is an appointed representative of Bank of Ireland. Post Office Life Insurance products are currently via Norwich Union & Axa.
Norwich Union Life Assurance was founded in 1797 in Norwich. In 1997, Norwich Union demutualised and floated as a PLC on the Stock Exchange. In 2000, Norwich Union merged with CGU, which itself was formed from the merger of General Accident and Commercial Union in October 1998. Upon merging they formed the group CGNU which then went on to become the Aviva group.
The AXA Group can trace its roots right back to the 18th century. After a succession of mergers‚ acquisitions and name changes involving some of the leading insurance companies in the UK and around the world‚ the name AXA was first introduced in 1985. In the UK in the 1990's they have acquired or merged to form Axa Equity & Law and Axa Sun Life.
In 2008 PostOfficeInsurance continues to offer a wide range of products via branch, internet or over the phone but not currently via brokers. Products include Life cover, over 50's plan, decreasing (mortgage protection) or level term assurance, and Un-Employment cover called lifestyle protection.
