EQUITABLE LIFE ASSURANCE
Established in 1700's, Equitable Life Insurance Co was originally the oldest Uk Life Insurance Company. Equitable Life was once proud to advise its sales force cut out the middleman and once a major force in both the protection & pensions market place.
Following a much publicised House of Lords ruling against the Society in 2000, Equitable Life Insurance Company closed to new business in 12/2000. The operating assets and the economic interest in much of the non profit business was sold to Halifax in 2001. From then onwards Equitable continued as an independent company with services provided under contract by Halifax.
During the 2000's they have transferred various parts of their business to Prudential, Canada Life and Reliance Mutual. In 2008 Equitable Life protection plans continue to help meet the needs and circumstances of its existing policyholders only & you can still make certain changes to an existing plan by contacting their head office in Aylesbury. They recommend that you talk to your financial adviser before making any changes where applicable.
Equitable Life used to offer in the UK various Protection Plans including mainly Whole Life cover, Endowments, Life savings plans plus decreasing (mortgage protection), level term assurance and Critical Illness.
